This adventurous one day safari tour is a fast-paced, immersive experience designed to give you a genuine glimpse into Sri Lanka's spectacular biodiversity, primarily focusing on Udawalawe National Park the island's premier location for guaranteed elephant sightings. Utilizing the Southern Expressway (E01), this itinerary minimizes travel time and maximizes the thrilling safari experience. Guests will witness large herds of wild elephants, diverse birdlife, and other unique mammals before commencing the return journey directly to the airport.

Day 01: Arrival, Elephant Herds & Departure

The day demands an extremely early start to facilitate the long journey to the deep south. Upon arrival, guests transition immediately into a rugged 4x4 safari jeep for a thrilling game drive, focusing on the early morning hours when wildlife activity is at its peak around the vast Udawalawe reservoir.

• Extremely Early Morning Transfer (03:30 AM): Pickup from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and immediate transfer via the Southern Expressway towards Udawalawe National Park.

• Safari Commencement (07:30 AM - 11:30 AM):

  • Park Entry: Arrive and transfer directly into an open-topped 4x4 jeep for the morning game drive.

  • Wildlife Focus: Spend four intensive hours exploring the park's grasslands and reservoirs, specifically searching for Asian elephant herds, water buffalo, crocodiles, deer species, and a myriad of vibrant, endemic birds.

Following the exhilarating safari, the itinerary includes a visit to a key conservation site before a swift return journey. Lunch is strategically planned to optimize travel time, ensuring a timely drop off back at the airport.

• Mid Day Break & Conservation (11:30 AM - 01:30 PM):

  • Elephant Transit Home (ETH): Visit the nearby Elephant Transit Home, a vital rehabilitation center, to witness the orphaned elephant calves being fed (depending on feeding times: 11:45 AM or 2:45 PM).

  • Lunch: Enjoy a quick, hearty lunch at a local restaurant near the park.

• Departure (01:30 PM - 05:30 PM): Commence the comfortable and efficient return transfer directly to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). You will be dropped off at the airport for your onward journey or nearby accommodation.
