Wildlife Photographer's Paradise

(5 Days / 4 Nights Package)

Overview

This five day, four night itinerary is specifically designed for wildlife photographers, focusing on maximizing time in Sri Lanka's most biodiverse and photogenic National Parks: Yala and Uda Walawe. The schedule prioritizes multiple safari sessions during the golden hours (early morning and late afternoon) to ensure the best lighting and animal activity for capturing the island's famous species, including Leopards, Elephants, and a vast array of endemic birds.

Day 01: Arrival & Uda Walawe Elephant Herds

The tour begins with a morning pickup at CMB and an immediate transfer to the southern dry zone. The afternoon is dedicated to the first major wildlife photography session at Uda Walawe.

  • Morning Transfer (09:00 AM): Pickup from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and immediate transfer to the Uda Walawe region (Approx. 4.5-5 hours drive).

  • Check-in & Lunch (02:00 PM - 03:00 PM): Arrive at the resort/accommodation near the park, check in, and enjoy lunch.

  • Afternoon Safari (03:30 PM - 06:00 PM):

    • Yala National Park: Enter the park at sunrise. This all-day session involves exploring multiple zones and habitats, from waterholes to scrub forests. Packed breakfast and lunch will be provided inside the park. The goal is maximum photography opportunities for Leopards, Sloth Bears, Crocodiles, and the diverse coastal birdlife.

  • Evening: Return to the hotel. Dinner and time to back up and edit the incredible collection of images captured. Overnight Stay near Yala/Tissamaharama.

Day 04: Yala Morning & Coastal Transfer

The final wildlife session takes place during the cool, quiet morning, followed by a transfer to the West Coast to break up the journey back to CMB.

  • Morning Safari (06:00 AM - 09:00 AM):

    • Yala National Park: Final early morning safari to specifically target any remaining desired shots or to re-attempt a leopard sighting in the best conditions.

  • Breakfast & Check-out (09:30 AM - 11:00 AM): Return, enjoy breakfast, and check out.

  • Coastal Transfer (11:30 AM - 04:30 PM): Begin the long, scenic transfer towards the West/South West Coast (e.g., Bentota/Galle region), utilizing the Southern Expressway.
