Overview
This three day, two night package offers an immersive experience, blending the awe inspiring history of Sri Lanka’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites with an authentic taste of rural village life. The tour centers around the Sigiriya and Dambulla areas, providing time not only for climbing the great rock fortresses but also for engaging directly with local customs, food, and traditions through a dedicated village stay experience.
Day 01: Arrival, Ancient Art & Village Check-in
The tour begins with a morning pickup at CMB and a direct transfer to the Cultural Triangle. The afternoon is dedicated to sacred art before checking into the unique village accommodation, which emphasizes local integration.
Morning Transfer (08:00 AM): Pickup from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and immediate transfer to the Dambulla/Sigiriya region (Approx. 4 hours drive).
Check-in & Lunch (12:30 PM - 02:00 PM): Arrive at the village-themed hotel or eco-resort (or a suitable village homestay), check in, and enjoy lunch.
Spiritual Immersion (02:30 PM - 04:30 PM):
Dambulla Cave Temple: Visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla. Climb to the five cave sanctuaries to view the magnificent Buddha statues and ancient frescoes.
Evening Village Experience (05:00 PM onwards): Settle into the accommodation. Experience a guided walk around the immediate village area, interacting with locals and observing their evening routines. Day 02: Royal Climb & Deep Immersion
Day two is the most active, starting with the climb of Sigiriya before the sun gets too hot, and then dedicating the entire afternoon to a deep-dive village experience designed for maximum cultural exchange.
Morning Climb (07:00 AM - 11:30 AM):
Breakfast: Enjoy a quick, early breakfast.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress: Commence the climb up Sigiriya (Lion Rock). Explore the Water Gardens, the Lion’s Paws, the Mirror Wall, and the ruins of the Sky Palace at the summit.
Transfer & Lunch (11:30 AM - 01:30 PM): Return to the village area and enjoy lunch.
Afternoon Immersion Experience (02:30 PM - 05:30 PM):
Traditional Village Tour: Engage in an authentic tour (e.g., at Hiriwadunna or similar). This includes a Bullock Cart Ride through paddy fields, a Catamaran (Oruwa) Boat Ride across a lake, and observation of traditional farming methods.
Evening (06:00 PM onwards): Traditional Cooking Class: Participate in an informal lesson on preparing classic Sri Lankan curries using a clay hearth and traditional methods. Enjoy the results of your efforts for dinner. Overnight Stay in Village Accommodation.
Day 03: Local Markets, Farewell & Departure
The final morning offers a final, gentle cultural activity before commencing the transfer back to the airport.

Local Market Visit (Optional): Visit a nearby local market (Pola) to see how fresh produce is bought and sold, experiencing the local commerce firsthand.

Lunch & Departure (11:30 AM - 04:30 PM): Enjoy lunch in the Dambulla area. Commence the comfortable return transfer directly to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) (Approx. 4-5 hours drive).
